Henry Fletcher, Architect

Building Centre - 26 Store Street, off Tottenham Court Rd,  WC1E 7BT

november_07_lecture1.pdf

Henry Fletcher is an architect based in London. He has worked on a variety of technical responses to construction related challenges in low income countries. He will consider two long term construction-based development projects:

Programme Construction Sans Bois in Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger (Development Workshop – http:www.dwf.org) and the Building and Construction Improvement Programme in the Northern Areas of Pakistan (Aga Khan Planning and Building Services Pakistan – http://www.akdn.org/agency/akpbs.html)

By drawing comparisons between the styles of intervention and economic challenges faced by these programmes in very different environments Henry Fletcher will show that technology alone will not solve problems of the built environment; a sensitivity to cultural and socioeconomic issues is critical.

Tickets – £5 at the door.  Reservation in advance is recommended at info@afhuk.org
